War Games

War Games takes an in-depth look at the curious world of 20th-century war reenactment-a phenomenon that draws more than 6,000 participants every year. Telling the stories of the men and women who are passionate about meticulously reproducing the details of the Battle of the Bulge in the Maryland woods, D-Day in Virginia, and World War I trench warfare in Pennsylvania, author Jenny Thompson analyzes how this particular group of Americans celebrates, remembers, and recreates the violence of war.

Jenny Thompson spent seven years attending war reenactments and getting to know their particpants. She has taught American studies and history at the University of Maryland and Roosevelt University and lives in Evanston, Illinois.
