War with Hannibal : Authentic Latin Prose for the Beginning Student

This edition of Book III of Eutropius'sBreviarium ab urbe conditapresents authentic, unabridged Latin prose for beginning and intermediate Latin students in secondary schools and colleges. It is designed to help students make the transition from the simplified Latin of a first-year textbook to the complex prose of the second-year curriculum. Several tools help students explore this engaging account of the Second Punic War between Rome and Carthage, including: basic glosses on each page,a commentary section with more in-depth translation help, detailed explanations of grammar and syntax, a glossary specifically designed for the text, informational appendixes, including a timeline and maps and battle plans.Macrons (long marks) have been added to the entire text in accordance with the vowel quantities used in theOxford Latin Dictionary, and the Latin text is supplemented by passages in English from other ancient authors. The primary text in its bare form is also provided for use in the classroom.
