If there is one thing I have learnt since starting my weaning platform on Instagram and through my work as a GP, it is just how many parents are desperately seeking a trusted resource to guide their baby’s transition from milk to solids. My book aims to be that resource - a comprehensive, reliable, evidence-based weaning guide by a doctor for all parents and caregivers to feel supported and informed.

Dr Sarika Kapoor is an NHS GP with an advanced knowledge of women’s healthcare. When she encountered multiple challenges weaning her first baby, including a traumatic choking incident, she struggled to find evidence-based, practical resources to guide her. Instead, to alleviate her anxiety and rebuild her confidence, she researched everything possible about weaning. Combining this with her existing medical experience empowered her to embrace the weaning journey. As The Weaning GP on Instagram (@theweaninggp), Sarika is passionate about helping other parents. She is the only UK doctor on social media solely talking about weaning, and has built a strong and engaged online community.
