The primary objective of this book is to provide a comprehensive insight into the anatomy of around 50 globally-important weeds and to understand how plants may react to environmental events such as herbicide application. The book will commence with a general overview of anatomy, structured in a way similar to other classical plant anatomy textbooks. The major part of the book will include sections covering monocots, dicots, brackens and horsetails with special reference to their anatomy. Ecological aspects, and the distribution of weeds will be also considered. Special attention will be paid to the 'weediness' of plants based on the evolution of anatomical structures. A number of rare weeds such as Adonis vernalis, Caucalis platycarpos and Scandix pecten-veneris will also be included The book will be illustrated in full color throughout. All light microscopy specimens in Weed Anatomy have been produced by hand and many scanning electron microscopy pictures will also be included, presenting more detailed views. All illustrations will be produced by the authors who have a long history of weed research experience and have between them studied the effects of weeds in all major crops, on all continents.
