Ed Brady was an ordinary kid who grew up in the South Bronx in the late 50's and early 60's to a working class, Catholic family. As an only child, he had the gift of gab and a close relationship to Bosco, Ring Dings, and the Mets. He bristled at the behavior of the nuns in Catholic school, especially their use of corporal punishment. Otherwise, life was good. At the age of 10, his family pulled up roots to move to western New Jersey, which was a big-time culture shock. This challenging adjustment was nothing to compare with the day when, some 20 years later, he would discover a deep family secret.
The day after Thanksgiving in 1990, 33-year-old Ed Brady was at home with his wife when he got a phone call from a mysterious woman claiming to be his mother. He would spend the next 24 hours discovering that he was, in fact, adopted. It took some convincing and traveling back and forth between his mother (the woman who raised him) and his birth mother to come to terms with his lineage. What follows is a heartfelt investigation into the meaning of family and one man's capacity to embrace his new-found relations while reaffirming his deep love and respect for the mother and father who raised him.
