Wil is sent to gather apples by his grandmother. Unfortunately, Wil and his dog Fitz have taken the wrong path, ending up in a field with no apples in sight. Just as Wil is ready to give up and return to Grandma's empty handed, Mr. "T," a wise old flea, intercedes. Before the trip can be completed, though, Wil and "T" need to become acquainted, which they do. After gaining Wil's trust, Mr. "T" directs him back to the beginning of the trail. Here they find two paths to take-the one Wil and Fitz followed and another, which is hilly and rocky. "T" convinces Wil to follow the more difficult path. Once they reach the top of the hill the apple orchard stretches out below. Wil learns from this adventure that wisdom comes from making errors-it is never ever free.
