The emphasis of this regional wildflower treatment is Florida. However, many of thefeatured plants occur through the Gulf and Eastern Coastal Plains, particularly from NorthCarolina west into eastern Texas. Many of the featured plants have ranges that extendfar beyond the Coastal Plain. This treatment contains descriptions and photographs of 768 plants. Most of the species in this treatment are native, however, many are introduced as a resultof escape from cultivation or inadvertent weeds that follow man. Many of the plants in this treatment are widespread, but some are quite rare. The areas where the plant grows are listed, together with the types of habitats in whichit typically occurs, the frequency of occurrence, and the season of flowering.
