An experienced field intelligence agent Major Kenneth Hall is not, so shouldn't have "picked up" the attractive Greek girl called Anna at the American Club swimming pool outside Athens in the late summer of 1949. Newly assigned in war-ravaged Greece, he's a lonely bachelor. They make a supper date. When he arrives at her apartment near the city center the handsome woman who greets him denies any knowledge of her. Aided by pretty Karen Dunne, his secretary in the shadowy, special intelligence section of the Joint U.S. Military Aid Group, they begin a spare-time search for the girl -- and run headlong into murder, kidnapping, treachery, international intrigue and a threat to the Free World. If the puzzling plot code named Miniver Cheevie's Cat can be foiled and Anna found before the Greek's national holiday on October 28th, perhaps they can save the country from falling to the communists?
