Winter's Wrath

In 1708-09, the most severe winter in 500 years swept over western Europe. The English Queen Anne was searching for hard working emigrants to populate her North American colonies at the same time this "winter's wrath" was devastating the farms of the Palatine region of Germany. In two months time, 13,000 desperate people left those farms and fled to The Netherlands to board the Queen's ships to London From there, she promised passage to the New World with free land to begin their new lives. From a direct descendant of these Palatine emigrants, comes a wellcrafted telling of danger, adventure, good humor and the resilience of the human spirit.
