The essays collected in this volume reflect the remarkable analytical scope and geographical range of their author, engaging fully with the debates over the politics of gender as well as appraising women's movements in widely varying societies. Maxine Molyneux has written extensively in the fields of political sociology, gender and development studies. She is Professor of Sociology at the Institute of Latin American Studies, University of London, where she teaches courses in Development and Gender Politics
