Then the island nation of Japan seizes the opportunity to invade its crippled neighbor. In addition, Linn's father and grandfather have taken opposite sides in this conflict and the cultural system that surrounds them. And Linn himself? All his life he has been spared from hardship, since his family are land owners, masters of poor dirt farmers, or peasants. Under these circumstances, Wu Linn embarks on a mission to unite his estranged family, a goal that would try any adult, let alone an adolescent.
