The Year's Work in Critical and Cultural Theoryis a major annual publication derived from its sister volume The Year's Work in English Studies. It provides a comprehensive collection of theoretical essays with bibliographies for work published in a given year.Volume 4 reviews over three hundred titles in seventeen chapters divided into two parts. Part One: Critical Theory, provides a general introductory chapter, followed by coverage of: Semiotics; Intertextuality; Psychoanalysis; Deconstruction; Feminism; Colonial Discourse, Postcolonial Theory; Historicism; Theories of Reading and Reception; Queer Theories/Cultures; and Discourse Analysis. Part Two: Culture and Communications, offers a general introductory survey of Cultural Studies, with subsequent chapters on: Popular Culture; Australian Popular Culture and Media Studies; Aboriginal Identity; Culture and Art; Popular Music; and Virtual Cultures.Volume 4 evaluates work published in 1994.
