Zeroing in on Number and Operations, Grades 78provides thirty research-based, classroom-tested modules that focus on the key mathematical strategies and concepts essential for these middle school grades-number theory and integers; fractions, decimals, percents; and ratio and proportionality-while highlighting the importance of teacher language in the development of those skills. The flipchart format makes it easy to access the key resources: summaries that identify the mathematical focus and associated challenges and misconceptions; instructional strategies and activities that develop conceptual understanding and computation skills; activities and ideas for adjusting the activities to meet individual needs; reproducibles for instructional use; and resources for further reading.

Anne Collins is the director of the Mathematics Program at Lesley University She has been providing mathematics content professional development institutes and courses for teachers for the past ten years and was recently elected to the NCTM Board of Directors.
Linda Dacey, professor of mathematics and education at Lesley University, works with preservice and inservice teachers, helping them to develop both their content knowledge and their practice. Her research focuses on problem solving, number sense, and strategies for differentiation.
