Stronger Than Iron

Stronger Than Iron is an eyewitness account of the events leading to the destruction of Vilna Jewry from the outbreak of the war between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union in 1941 through the liberation of the remnants of Vilna Jewry in the Estonian concentration camps. It is a chronicle of days and nights, of months and years recorded behind the walls of the ghettos, behind the barbed wires of the concentration camps, in the darkness of hiding places - always in the shadow of death, always with the uncertainty of living to see a tomorrow. The book is a historical document of primary importance. It is also an expression of the innermost thoughts and feelings of a single individual possessed by the idea of saving his family from destruction and of helping his fellow Jews in their darkest moments of need. It is above all the story of a man who would not give in and who would not be broken even when all hope was gone.
