Families Raising Disabled Children Enabling Care and Social Justice

Drawing upon qualitative material from parents and professionals, including ethnography, narrative inquiry, interviews and focus groups, this book brings together feminist and critical disability studies theories to make sense of parental identities, the making and unmaking of disabled children, professional and institutional practices, community practices, the impact of parents groups and the transformative potential and boundaries of care.

Pamela Fisher was one of the research associates involved in this study, she is now Senior Lecturer in Sociology at the University of Huddersfield, UK. Emma Clavering was one of the research associates involved in this study, she continues to work with Janice McLaughlin in PEALS in associated research projects. Dan Goodley is Professor of Psychology and Disability at the Department of Psychology and Social Change, Manchester Metropolitan University, UK.
