Since moving to the mountains in 1976, Betsy Folwell has written numerous pieces on local history, outdoor recreation, and the environment; her freelance articles on adventure travel, regional history, and indigenous crafts in the Northeast, Southwest, and Caribbean have appeared in The New York Times Travel Section, National Geographic Traveler, and other fine publications. She lives in Blue Mountain Lake, NY, with husband Tom Warrington and their dogs.
