Celebrating Guadalupe

The Virgin of Guadalupe has found her way into the hearts and lives of people all over the world. Much more than just a religious symbol, she has embodied protective love and cultural pride for her many followers since she first appeared to humble Juan Diego outside Mexico City in 1531. Her image has endured and gone on to grace the banners of 19th-century Mexican revolutionaries and Cesar Chavez's United Farm Workers Movement. Today, we not only find her in churches throughout North America and beyond, but also in people's homes, cars, and tattoos, on devotional candles, tote bags, folk art, and much more.
