ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

Unedited testimonies, letters, and reflections from those who managed to survive the Argentinian dictator thanks to the courage of Jorge Bergoglio. An unknown side of Pope Francis.

The figure of Pope Francis has had a great impact on the whole world. Nevertheless, very little is known about his life in Argentina during the turmoil of the seventies, when he held the provincial position for the Jesuits.

What happened with the kidnapping and later release of the Jesuit priests Orlando Yorio and Francisco Jalics?  What relationship did Bergoglio have with the youth dedicated to the guerrilla? What demands did he carry out faced with the Military Junta? Could he have done more than he did? Was he afraid?

Today it's hard to imagine that the person who has occupied the Vatican throne since 2013 moved about, in the past, as an experienced militant revolutionary, but Bergoglio didn't hesitate in developing a strategy of simulation and silence nor in making use of all the tools at his reach, despite the risks he was exposed to, in order to facilitate many people's escape from the country.

This revealing book presents testimonies from those who managed to survive thanks to the courage of the current pontiff.
