Thankful Harvest

Through lyrical prose and gorgeous illustrations, "Thankful Harvest" gently introduces young readers to regenerative farming and ethical animal harvesting; illuminating the concept that life is a circular exchange of energy among plants, humans, and animals.
The story follows a young girl as she cares for baby turkeys, moves the growing birds around the pasture with her papa, and helps her family and friends as they come together to respectfully harvest the turkeys for their community.
The book has been created with the deepest respect for animals and the process of harvesting animals for food. Though it is a complex subject, children are capable of understanding—and often fascinated by—how their food (including animals) is grown and harvested. "Thankful Harvest" is a way to start conversations about raising and harvesting animals for food, nutrition, local food systems, environmental stewardship, and gratitude for all that the earth provides.

Jenny Goff is a writer, sailor, chef, and Nutritional Therapy Practitioner who stewards a regenerative farm with her husband and two daughters in the Pacific Northwest.

Heather Talley makes art and lives on a regenerative, no-till farm where she grows produce and raises animals.
