For years, she was captivated by the faded, dog-eared letters above her classroom's chalkboard, each one holding a personality of its own. After a lifetime of moving from one military base to another as a Navy brat, these letters became symbols of her vivid creativity. Now, she's brought them to life in a way that celebrates her artistic journey, drawing and coloring each letter by hand. Mickey Mapstone Bio
Mickey is a retired art teacher of 27 years and a life-long practicing artist. She received her bachelor's degree in Art and her Master's in Education at Mansfield University, Mansfield, PA.
Mickey spent seven summers restoring the 'Hiawatha Murals' now hanging at Curtin Intermediate School in Williamsport PA. She has had several one-woman shows, exhibited in many juried shows, and won many awards over the years.

Mickey has many talents. She loves working in digital art, ceramics, stained glass, quilt-making, and other art media. Plus, she published a novel,
a murder mystery, Dead Men Pay Cash, and more recently, the Basic Budgie Book which incorporates both of her passions, art and writing.
Mickey has changed her subject matter and art medium recently. A professional oil and watercolor artist, she decided to master something new and found that with her love of birds (which she calls Budgies), she mastered pastels, which give her a soft, blended, cozy effect that is perfect for the subject matter.
Mickey resides in Loyalsock Township, Williamsport, PA. She was the President of the Bald Eagle Art League for five years. "Art has been my talent, my escape, my love since I was a child. It will always be my 'life' as well".
