All the Same Songs

After he and his friends' botched robbery of a local bingo game leaves one patron dead, eighteen-year-old James Reed leaves his hometown and the girl he loves as he desperately tries to escape the police. While in hiding James reflects on the past year and on his life as a whole as he tries to figure out how he got to this point, and how he could have changed things. "ALL THE SAME SONGS" documents the downfall of a young man who has slowly lost his hope for the future over the past six years. Watching his first love die at age twelve has left James with an unshakable fear of success, and a suspicion that no victory is really permanent. Even though he tries valiantly throughout his Senior year to convince himself that he will be able to hold on to the girl he loves this time, it is only at the end of telling his story that James realizes he never allowed himself to actually believe that triumph was truly possible.
