Dr. Pamies chairs the department of medicine at Meharry, and was instrumental in creating the Institute of Medicine Report. Dr. Satcher was also intrumental in the Institute of Medicine Report’s creation and as Surgeon General was the primary force behind the creation of the Center for Research in Minority Medicine. He is a family practitioner by background and has won innumerable awards for his contributions to clinical medicine.
