Reflective practice is an important and underpinning skill required for students learning to teach in the lifelong learning sector. This book makes the case for reflective practice in post-compulsory teaching and shows how reflective practice supports teachers in coping with the complexities and contingencies of practice. The book introduces firstly a basic model of reflective practice and then explores several further models of reflective practice relevant to Further Education teaching, each with appropriate guidance for their application in practice. The book also discusses collaborative approaches to reflective practice and the place of reflective practice in teachers continuing professional development. The book concludes by examining the limitations and problems relating to engaging in reflective practice, plus there are some helpful suggestions to overcome them.
