Things pop right along as Alvin, with the helpful maneuverings of Speedy Glomitz, runs against the no-longer-shy Theresa Undermine. Sometimes Speedy's maneuvering is a little disconcerting. The tension continues to build when Alvin is elected, and though he may not like Mayor Massey, he definitely likes being mayor for a day! When his secretary, the Pest, finds a little leather-bound book at the bottom of a drawer the situation becomes critical.
