Still the Monkey : What happens to warriors after War?

Still the Monkey is a reality-based work of historical fiction that depicts the problems caused by post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) among returning veterans. For the character of Dennis Michaels, a Vietnam veteran still struggling with cycles of Survivor's Guilt and the 'Body-Bag Syndrome¿ for nearly forty years, life changes when he joins a fledgling mentor program at Walter Reed Medical Center and is now tasked with helping a young Marine double-amputee wounded in Iraq undergo rehabilitation. As their personal histories of fighting for their country and their sanity intersect, they begin a cathartic journey of transforming pain into healing while honoring their Marine code of conduct: Never leave anyone behind.

Alivia Tagliaferri is a native of Williamsport, Pennsylvania and a 1999 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. Still the Monkey, What Happens to Warriors after War, is the first sojourn of her writing career. She is the founder and owner or Ironcutter Media, LLC., a boutique publishing and media production company based in Northern Virginia. Alivia currently resides in Fairfax, Virginia.
