A stunning book of portraits and biographies of the elders of the Salish Nation, complete with stories of the highlights of their lives.
Born in the Netherlands, Wim Tewinkel studied forestry in Holland, spent three years in Kenya and then immigrated to Canada. As well as a forester, he is a notable photographer. He has spent the last twenty years working with the First Nations people of the Lilleoot-Pemberton area of British Columbia. From his friendships with the native elders and his interest in photography came the book Salish Elders.
